Her first major victory came at the 1965 Titleholders' Championship, where she won by 10 strokes.
Her 88 wins are the most by any player on any tour.
Whitworth won the 1957 New Mexico Women's Amateur two years later and repeated the feat the following year.
kathy won six majors during her decades-long career, and came very close to winning the US Women's Open in
1971
In 1981, Kathy became the first woman to earn $1m on the LPGA tour.
She died suddenly when she was celebrating Christmas Eve.
